A bittersweet day

Studio sunset

In a little while I am on my way to the Arts Foundation to dismantle, pack, and close my Montana studio. Even though I wasn’t able to spend as much time there as I had hoped when I first leased the space, it was a good place to be. I made several major pieces there, including one that was juried into an exhibit here in Montana and subsequently sold while hanging there.

I’m looking forward to our relocation to Austin, and having a studio in my home again. But there are many things that I will miss as we move forward.

I loved the light in my studio and the views from the 4th floor of the Arts Foundation, such as the sunset at the top of this post. And I quickly became very fond of my studio mate, Leslie Doyle, a gifted mosaic artist. The best times were the ones when we were both there creating. Plenty of work was accomplished, but lots of laughter and conversation and critiquing happened too.

I’ll miss it.
