Best Laid Plans

OK, I admit it.
I’ve been feeling just a little frustrated. The weather has not been cooperating with my plans to get my studio completely set up and in use. Every time I think that today it will happen, we get snow. And wind. And sub-zero temps.
The streets, even in our Uptown neighborhood, are given the Idea of Plowing. And when one lives in a city built on a hill, everywhere one wants to go is up one… or it’s uphill coming home! With a few inches of snow on top of a few inches of ice, it gets tricky for a non-four-wheel-drive vehicle. The studio is located close enough to home to walk, but I can’t carry the bins and bins of fabrics and threads and paints and embellishments that are still here. And, of course, my sewing machine is already there.
So, since I’m not going anywhere this afternoon, I decided the only way to attack the feeling of frustration was to draft A New Plan.
I pulled up my Call for Entries links and started going through the upcoming deadlines, trying to find some shows that match my interests, have enough lead time available before due dates – yet not so much that it just gets back-burnered, and have manageable size requirements. And I found two with deadlines in the next few weeks that look promising.
Now I can spend the day snug in the house working on design ideas. Frustration banished!

I look at several for different media, but these two artists have really good pages of Calls for mixed media and art quilts:
Lyric Kinard
Michelle Verbeeck
