We interrupt our regularly scheduled art making

Although it seems like we just got to Montana, the big news around my household is that we are relocating in less than 3 weeks. This move will take us to Austin, TX.
It’s a bittersweet thing for us as we have loved living in Butte. The people are outstanding, the landscape is breathtaking, the architecture is interesting, the history is fascinating. There are so many things we never got to see or do because the entire time we’ve been here… it’s been winter.
We had a CSA all lined up. We couldn’t wait for the National Folklife Festival. We had found a perfect house on the side of the mountain. But it is not to be.
Don’t get me wrong. We’re excited to be heading to Austin! I’ve never been there, even though I meant to get there the entire 9 years I lived in Santa Fe. It’s a place where we know we’ll feel at home because of the music, art, and food possibilities. And we have friends who live close enough to see regularly.
This weekend we’ll be going down to look at houses, and when we return the packing begins in earnest.
Art supplies at home are already being sorted and boxed, my studio at the Arts Foundation will be packed up sooner rather than later, so not much will be happening in the way of art making until we’re settled in Austin. I intend to take some photos every day just to give myself a little creative fix.
Last night we had friends over for dinner. As I was setting the table I was struck by the way the stemware and vase on the table overlapped in a very Robbi Joy Eklow kind of way. I especially like the way the two stems on the far right of the photo intersect and reflect the light from the windows while dissecting the curve of the chair back and the colors of the wall and trim.
I’ll be posting photos regularly as we proceed through the next weeks. I hope you’ll stop by now and then and take a look.
